Great value for money accommodation. We were upgraded from budget to family room. Lovely host explained everything car parking, access to the building etc. Room very comfortable and clean. Town centre only couple of minutes walk away.

MY sister's family were show jumping with their horses at the Arena UK and I helped out by being the HGV driver to get their huge new camper/horsebox to the event with my motorbike on board. Never done this before but after strapping the motorbike up and booking this hotel as one of the cheapest in Grantham, all went very well. THe sat nav took me straight to parking around the back of the hotel, motorbike was well hidden away. Walked in through an empty bar late afternoon and collected my keys. I was up on the top floor and the double bed had a TV adn a sink in the room. I had a shared bathroom and toilet on the landing. Everything was very clean, towels and sheets fresh.After changing, back down to the bar for a few pints (very cheap compared wth home!). Then I walked into central town, just 90 seconds away. Around the first corner, statues of famous locals, museum, Weatherspoons for tea and then the cinema.Perfect location, quiet but local to town centre. I was there 2 nights, slept well, drank in the bar both nights. Watched football on a huge projection TV. No meals served on the weekend, but week menu looked good value and lots of local restaurants and take-aways (good Chinese right opposite).Would definately use again!

It is in a perfect location especially if travelling by rail or bus.Restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance.There is a bar attached to the hotel where hot food is also available.The rooms and bathrooms were spotless and the hosts are welcoming and helpful.

We have just spent an excellent weekend at the Avenue Hotel, as a party of 6 old friends for our annual reunion. There was nothing to dislike about this hotel; there was a spacious car park at the rear of the hotel; we were warmly welcomed by Tracey and Martin. We enjoyed relaxing and chatting in the bar, the rooms were a good size, and the breakfast was amazing. Walking to the town centre was easy with lots of shops, pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Good for visiting the Grantham museum too. Fully recommend this place.

We came to stay overnight at the Avenue Hotel to attend a 70th birthday party 🥳We arrived around 3pm and was directed to our king sized ensuite room to get settled. We unpacked our party outfits and relaxed on the bed with the afternoon sun streaming through the window 😊The room was welcoming, clean and spacious.We slept fitfully in the very comfortable bed, then went down to breakfast before packing our bags and heading home. It was a very chilled out stay and we enjoyed ourselves immensely ☺️

To be fair I wasn’t expecting too much as the costs were so low but how wrong I was! Super friendly and attentive staff, cracking food - I had the Tuesday Special of Chicken pie and it was very good indeed- both dinner and breakfast and a very welcoming bar with a couple of locals sharing tales from the past.Highly recommend The Avenue!

The room was large and we enjoyed having the tea and coffee facilities. Pillows were very soft, I needed a second one for a bit of extra support (spares in the wardrobe). The shower was nice and powerful, and a decent size. No extractor in the bathroom and no openable window, so it did get a bit steamy in there.The room was quiet and very little outside or inside noise.Overall we enjoyed our stay. The roo. Rate seemed expensive compared to food and drink in Grantham, but was at the more affordable end of the market when I was looking for accommodation, so no complaints about that really. The bonus of being able to park for free in the hotel car park was great.

Excellent! Comfortable clean room fully equipped. Good night's sleep was followed by very good breakfast - plenty of cereals fruit yogurt juice tea and coffee followed by wide choice of cooked items. Arrived hot and beautifully cooked (especially a perfect poached egg!) Toast and preserves and pastries to follow. Very friendly helpful staff, convenient location close to town centre. Thank you!

Clean room, comfortable bed. Nice welcome, very informative with regards entrance process, etc as the hotel does not have a fully manned reception. My room had a shared bathroom, which is not ideal but it was clean and respected by the other residents. There was also a separate loo. Room had a sink.Parking is limited and you must register your vehicle at reception. Street parking seemed pretty safe.I didn't get to use the bar or order food. There is a handy Wetherspoons within a 5 minute walk.

Recently stayed in a family room. There was new carpets and furniture. Room was very nice with warm heating comfortable bed and large tv on the wall. Bathroom okay but a little bit dated but did the job. Nice bar area with well priced drinks. Separate breakfast area which was clean and tidy with plenty to eat and drink.It is an old victorian building so it is expected to have seen better days but for the price it was value for money and would stay again.

A warm and friendly welcome. On-site parking and a central location with plenty of shops, restaurant/cafes etc. The room was on the top floor, warm & spacious, noise free and comfortable enough. The shower was luke warm, phoned reception and was sorted quickly and on a second attempt was bliss! Hot, powerful and with sliding doors that sealed well. Efficient key set up for coming and going and all in all for an affordable price.Improvements for me would be a snib on the inside of the bedroom door and an extra blanket or thicker douvet, as was cooler in the night.Many thanks. This is a family owned and run hotel which is great for a few nights in Grantham.A minutes walk to the centre of town.Free parking at the back with room for big vans as well as cars.A fair range of beers and stronger drinks in the bar/restaurant and a home cooked menu available in the evenings.I always stay here now when on a business trip to Grantham.All the staff are long time servers and look after you really well.A+++

The Avenue Hotel is a great find. It is convenient to walk to Grantham shops and stations. (bus & rail). My room was clean and comfortable and the shower was brilliant. The staff I met, Millie and Tracey were lovely. The value for money was good and I will book there again. The car park took a bit of finding as it was tucked away so more directions for that would have been useful.The hotel itself is very tired and in need of decoration throughout.There is no lift, but you could request ground floor bedrooms.The food was good (only had breakfast) but all freshly cooked to order.

I have stayed at the avenue hotel many times for business reasons and I can’t fault the hotel, bar or breakfast. The staff are lovely, food is fab and the rooms are great. Plenty of free parking. Freshly cooked breakfasts each morning, made to order. Pub food is a great price and lovely. The rooms are spacious, clean and perfect for business use, I have stayed in many of the rooms and all rooms have been amazing. Had a great stay here at this lovely hotel. All the staff were very friendly and the owners were brilliant and very helpful. The hotel is clean and comfortable and has everything a traveler would need for your stay. It is central to the main town centre, which was ideal for my personal needs. Will be definitely rebooking for next year as I have an annual reunion here every year.My only comment is it would have been nice to have towel rails in the bathroom, but this is nitpicking. Highly recommended and you will not be disappointed.

I stayed over for 3 nights on my own in a single room with shared bathroom. I have to say it was better than I expected. Bathroom was clean at all times and no waiting queue . The bedroom only was missing a desk for someone like as I needed to work on laptop. But otherwise had everything and was clean and comfortable stay. I would choose this again for the need.

I stayed for 3 nights when visiting Grantham. My room was on the 2nd floor, up 2 flights of stairs - on my next stay I would choose a first floor room as there is no lift. However, the hotel is very central, with off road parking. It is clean and comfortable, with free wifi, and reasonably priced. I did not have a meal, so can't comment on catering. The owners are very friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

We arrived late and the owner really thought with us how to enter the hotel later. Great service!Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was solid. The showerhead could not handle high pressure (it fell off) but the temperature and toilet were good.Even though we only stayed there for 8 hours, I would defenitely come back if I am on the road again.

We chose the Avenue hotel for an overnight stay on our way back to the Netherlands from Scotland. It is a friendly place with comfortable rooms. Important was also that the parking lot is monitored and secluded which meant that we could leave our luggage in the car

The room was clean and comfortable. Parking was a bonus. We didn't have food due to the circumstances of our visit. The kettle switch was a bit reluctant to engage but did after being held in for while. Instructions needed for the coffee machine! I've never used one, so bought a jar and used that. The bathroom system is extremely loud.Anytime someone flushed the toilet you could hear a very loud industrial noise. Not just my own private bathroom. It also went off whenever someone used other bathrooms. It was so loud it kept me awake very late and then woke me at 5am. It continued making a very loud racket the whole stay. For this reason a low score.

I had a nice size double room, but the en-suite bathroom wasn’t very clean and the floor was disgusting. I did complain that the bathroom smelt of urine, and it was cleaned again the next day. The mattress was a bit lumpy and the room smelt of musty lynx spray when I arrived.

Arrived at the property to a mix of food and bad news! Good news that they had arranged for me to Check in early due to a wedding and also booked me a taxi - brilliant! Myself and my sisters booked this hotel for a weekend away and didn't expect much for the price but were so pleasantly surprised. Our room was really clean, big enough for 2 and well laid out. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. My sister is gluten free and was really happy to see such a large selection of choices at breakfast. We all ate very well. The hotel has lots of charm and features of the historical building it is whilst remaining impeccably clean and modern. Would definitely stay here again.

Just had a two night stay at this lovely hotel. We had an enjoyable three night stay in a comfortable and well equipped room. Lovely friendly staff!! Plenty of parking, which was easily accessible at the rear, was an important factor in booking there. We particularly liked the warm atmosphere of the bar. All of our beds have been updated this last year as we receive constant reviews about the mattress's, but nothing ever compares to you're own! The smell you refer to would be the fact the heat being on the roof it is and the room is under that and heating the traditional materials that the hotel was built with. What a great hotel this is. Martin runs an excellent hotel, everything you could want is here and at a very affordable price. We couldn’t fault anything. Martin is so friendly. We loved the private secure parking and we had an excellent meal for dinner. The rooms have all you could ever wish for and we especially liked the touch of the fan which was much appreciated on such a hot night. Our only negative was our room had the hot water pump for a few of the rooms which made a loud whistling sound whenever someone used hot water. The rail strike meant having to request an additional extra overnight stay at the hotel at the beginning of our planned walk along the Grantham Canal. It was two nights well spent. Upon arrival we found our booked double room had an issue so we were allocated a twin bedded room for the first night then upgraded to another room for the second. Very helpful and friendly lady throughout the process from telephone contact to reception upon arrival. We loved the high quality cotton sheets and towels in both rooms. We slept well. All in all a comfortable good price hotel in central Grantham which we recommend.

Stayed for 2 nights over Coronation weekend.Ideal location in centre of town with plentiful free parking. 2 minute walk into centre. Room very clean, hot shower, black out curtains.I found bed comfy my husband didn't, but down to your own preference.Friendly and helpful owner. We arrived early and no problem having room as it was ready. Offered extra milk and teabags. Coffee machine with pods in room. Iron and ironing board. No complaints at all. The room was larger than expected and clean. It was very warm but unlike most hotels it is possible to open the windows. The bed was very comfortable and we heard no noise from downstairs despite visiting on a Saturday night. Hotel and room booked by my company. Very nice room (room 17). Was informed it was the second biggest so was very fortunate. Some of the other rooms in the pictures look a lot smaller and I do prefer a ‘roomy’ room, so would certainly request one like this again if I stayed.Large smart tv which I wasn’t expecting so was able to log into steaming services - only criticism of this was that it was slow and at times unresponsive. Could have been the remote control batteries or the Wi-Fi strength? Didn’t render it unusable just slightly irritating.Didn’t use food or bar facilities so couldn’t comment on these but bar looked cosy when walking through it.Lovely welcome at reception by a friendly lady. Ran through everything clearly and helpfully.Overall nice stay and would return either though work or personal use if I was visiting the area for personal reasons.Two potential improvement points from my experience-The alley way could be lit more to access the car park area. Half way down (car park end) was fine but pub end was much darker and took a bit of care navigating it.Secondly, there was a lot of noise from the bar between 9ish and late. I needed to be up for work at 4.30am so I struggled getting to sleep. Other nights ok as starts were later. Maybe some soundproofing between bar and the effected first floor rooms above?Didn’t majorly detract from my enjoyable stay.Thank you for having me!

A very clean and comfortable hotel with every facility catered for - even an ironing board and iron in our room. Wonderful daily room service with lots of tea and coffee provided. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and at the end of a long days sightseeing,if you don't want to go out to seek food, a varied menu is available in the bar. Good quality food too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon.

What a lovely hidden gem. We were looking for a central location with parking - which it certainly had - and a reasonable price for a one-night stay. I must say, I don't know how they can offer such a good service for the little it cost us. The room was spotless and modern, very comfortable beds and a really good shower. We had a drink in the bar and had the shared platter for two which was enough food for four! The common areas were clean and characterful. I would really recommend this hotel and will definitely be staying again.

Having previously stayed at this hotel with the current owners,we knew what to expect.Welcoming,large spacious rooms,comfortable beds,lovely home cooked breakfast and a large selection of cereals,jams,unlimited tea or coffee and dietary requirements catered for.Car parking is available at the back of the hotel and the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the High Street.We asked if they could cater for a funeral tea for my dad for about 20 and they were able to accommodate this, plus variousdietary requirements. The bar was open too.Would recommend this hotel.Ring them direct.

We have been coming to Grantham for many a year now.We have stayed in other guest houses in and around Grantham. Newer been able to get in the Avenue as usually fully booked.This year we got to stay. No wonder it gets booked up quickly. Great location for us being right in town center.great rooms great staff.no restrictions on your movement come and go as you please.Already waiting for next year's date for our meet up and will be booking straight away to avoid disappointment.In my opinion beast hotel best rates and best staff. From making the booking three days before needed, due to another local hotel cancelling my booking, Martin at The Avenue wad great. So helpful, even with the directions to the carpark. Easy booking in on arrival. Room was clean, big and lovely with an ensuite bathroom. Well equipped with hairdryer to kettle and drink making facilities. Easy system for coming and going whilst staying there. Made this easier for a later arrival.Will defantly be booking there again for next year.

Our 4 nights at the hotel was during heatwave therefore very hot, and bedrooms were uncomfortably hot, but as always can't control weather !! Perhaps better , quieter fans would help.moved rooms after 1st night and all our things were transferred to other room for us , so no problem for us.Very good value for money, and our king, deluxe room was well equipped and clean.Enjoyed the bar and choice of drinks, again good prices.Location excellent for town centre and station, also routes in all directions. Lovely place to stay.Private parking available which is a bonus. On arrival was given a warm welcome and booking in was quick and easy. Very pleased with the security of the hotel as to gain entrance you needed a fob. Our room was on the top floor so lots of stairs, but the room was clean,tidy,spacious and beds were comfortable. The room had a large tv and as a bonus had Netflix.Downstairs was a bar and their restaurant,in which we had a freshly prepared cooked breakfast in the morning where you could choose what you wanted from the menu. Complements to the chef!The hotels location is right in the heart of the towns centre so lots of amenities close by.We would definitely recommend this family run hotel and would definitely stay again if in the area 💯👍👍👍👍👍

Well placed in the town center. This is our third booking with Avenue.Very clean. Excellent beds for comfort.No fridge in the room? Mirror location not practical. But we did say we only stayed for one night, on that basis the no fridge is not that serious an issue.The staff is always friendly and helpful, with no fuss.Overall - a good place to stay.

Travelling alone for the first time I was apprehensive, but had no reason to worry. The Avenue Hotel is ideally located for the Town Center and a short walk to the Train Station, it also has private parking. My room was spacious and quiet, with a shower/toilet pod. The hotel is well laid out with a 24hr reception. Breakfast was good value and the private bar was well stocked and offered Sky TV.I also found a lovely park that runs along side the river which is ideal for those wishing a bit of fresh air

I stayed at the hotel with my son and friend and found it was much better than I had expected. The room was spacious and clean. The shower amazing. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Friendly staff and customers.

Excellent location easy walking distance to find from train station. I had a single room on top floor with a shared (with two other rooms )shower room / toilets were across the landing . The hotel seems a bit tired over all certainly not luxurious in any way but for a basic bed for the night its in a great location close to the hight street and it was clean bright and had the basics .They got me nut milk in for my stay the bed was comfortable plenty of pillows nice and warm and a big bath room with enough clean towels.Tea and coffee making facilities and a hair dryer.They did knock and immediatelyenter the room 20 mins before check out saying they though we had checked out already and just missed my partner getting dressed! But over all the staff were nice and friendly and id say it was a good nights sleep with little noise.

We arrived close to 10pm and the receptionist was still so welcoming and friendly. Hotel is in a great location, so central and close to everything! Although we were only there to spend the night, we managed to see a beautiful part of Grantham. The room was very clean and had good amenities. Nice big comfortable bed and bedding. The staff are all helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. Our room was warm and clean with plenty of storage space, clean towels were supplied and the bath towels were big enough to wrap around us (bonus!!). The breakfast was extremely good, lots to choose from: fruit juices, yogurt, cereals and cakes followed by a very well cooked and served breakfast. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel, it was our second stay and won’t be our last

The receptionist was efficient and gave lovely friendly service. The room was clean and spacious. Could not get radiator to work in bedroom but the room was reasonably warm without it. Only supplied with one set of towels for two of us but we were only there for one night so wasn’t a problem for that reason.On the whole it was a pleasant stay and we would use the hotel again.

This is an older Hotel which has been and it still being refurbished. Our bedroom was lovely, newly redecorated, with deep pile carpet, new furnitureand very comfortable beds. En-suite shower room, whilst functional does need some TLC. The temperature setting in the shower cubicle was difficult to regulate, there was a sweet spot which took some patience finding. The shower doors also need repairing.Very convenient for us, as we were attending a comedy night at the Guildhall, just 5 minutes or less walk away. They also allowed our dog to stay in the room and are dog friendly in general.

This is a nice friendly hotel with the owners living on site. A friendly welcome augured well. The room was large and gave the appearance of having recently been redecorated. The bed was very comfortable. I don’t think I have been in a hotel room with so much storage space: a wardrobe with three drawers and hanging space, two bedside cabinets each with three drawers and a dressing table with three further drawers. Apart from the usual tea/coffee there was also a Krups coffee machine with cappuccino capsules. The shower room was clean with fresh towels. All nice so far.Those were the pros, now for the cons. The first thing we found was that the sink in the bathroom didn’t drain properly. It was extremely slow to the point that on our last day I had to empty the water with a glass. What was annoying was that this problem had been known for some time.The second problem was that the room was over the bar and so thing became very noisy at closing time.However, all things considered it was good value for money and somewhere I would stay again.

I wasn't in the hotel for long so can't say a huge amount, but it was only a few minutes walk from the main highstreet where you'll find bars/restaurant/shops. I was greeted by a friendly lady (Birmingham fan) who told me about the hotel and pointed me to my room. The rooms are pretty basic, but for the price, I couldn't complain. There is a bar downstairs which was pretty busy, I think this hotel attracts a lot of workers who perhaps live further away. The only real 'negative' was that the car park was really busy, I managed to get a space but my friend had to park elsewhere. A small issue in the grander scheme of things.

Happy to say we enjoyed staying at the Avenue Hotel for a couple of nights in August 2020. We had room no 14 under the eaves which entailed climbing two flights of stairs.The room was clean, beds were comfortable and we slept well.We stayed over a Monday and Tuesday which meant we could take the opportunity of having discounted meals.The menu was limited but quite tasty and well cooked. No desserts on offer (probably shouldn't eat them anyway!). Very friendly and helpful staff as the owners were away.The hotel is well situated with a short walk into town for shopping or exploring. We could see the hotel is being updated and had parts of it redecorated.It does benefit from their own car park. Would probably return to the hotel if in the area again.

Stayed at the Avenue Hotel whilst visiting family in Grantham.Great central location with car parking at the rear (accessible a couple of doors down via a busy narrow road).The hosts were friendly and helpful and check-in/out was hassle free.We had a big double room at the back of the property so no nice view but quiet.Hot night but there was a fan in the wardrobe which helped.Re-decorating underway which didn't impact our stay.Clean accommodation; only minor niggles were poor water pressure in the shower and pillows were to hard for me but wouldn't put us off staying again.Nice touch having a bar and outside seating on site, especially during hot weather.Didn't have breakfast or bar food so can't comment on that.Perfectly acceptable accommodation for the price paid.

Needed a bed for the night in Grantham.Was given a twin room for £45. The room was clean, the shower hot, and the bed comfortable. Tea and coffee provided. Good value for money.

I only stayed for onenight, and before I got there I thought I was going to be late for check in and lose my booking so I rang up explaining the situation and the bloke who owns the hotel answered and was very pleasant and polite and reassured me that my booking will still be open and also gave me directions to the hotel. When I got there I told I was upgraded to a deluxe which was lovely here and even the bar closed due to not being busy I was allowed to buy a bottle wine to take up to my room. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable, room was heated at the right temp and the bathroom and shower was perfect I would stay there again and also recommend it to others

I travel a lot with work and this has to be one of the most disappointing stays I have had for a long time. On arriving I was welcomed and everything was explained very adequately, yet that was the first and last time I saw anyone (staff or otherwise for 2 days!When entering my room at about 7pm there was what sounded like a tumble drier above my head on a cycle which lasted about an hour and also woke me up on both mornings (I assume this was the hot water pipes?) The bed was one of the worst I have slept in period, with the centre of the mattress being several inches lower than the outside and the duvet sounding more like a plastic bag. I would only stay here if there is no alternative (as was the case for me).

The mattress we can only apologies for and get a replacement.Had you have made contact by either a note or a call we could have made amendments for your stay. Went for the Signs, Wonders & Power of The Gospel (Mission24) at the Jubilee Church Centre. Hotel very handily located. They upgraded me to an en suite as otherwise I'd have been sharing a bathroom with two male visitors. Kind of them, I thought.Room clean and comfortable.Bed comfortable _once_ I'd turned the mattress, so that the Memoryfoam topping was on top, and remade the bed!Will stay here again for the next conference.

Impressive beginning, secure and with a warm welcome. My room was spacious and comfortable, tea & coffee in the room and ironing facilities just outside on the landing, a nice touch. Really good bed and the noise levels are really low, didn't hear a thing outside the room, which is really helpful. My only possible gripe is that the shower was a little mouldy and showing its age, but the rest of the room and indeed the hotel was very clean and tidy . Will certainly use the Avenue again.

I enjoyed a quiet stay at a well organised Hotel. The Staff are excellent. The security is commendable .It is an old style Hotel , and I did struggle a little with the stairs. But to introduce a Lift and an upgrade of all the facilities would incur considerable costs. It is a great Central economical Hotel for Grantham.

I stayed 3 nights over a weekend. I had a good sized double room with en suite shower.Bed was very comfortable. Shower was good.Breakfast was always freshly cooked and tasty. Staff were all friendly and helpful. All in all i had a lovely stay.

I booked a double room to stay in after a night out.When I arrived I was very surprised and pleased to find I'd been upgraded to a deluxe room which was fab, really roomy and a lovely en suite.There was free parking on sitewhich was a real bonus.The room as also had a coffee making machine which was a nice touch.I've booked to stay again in the near future as the value is fantastic, as is the welcome.

Very good welcome.Nice clean and comfy room. Location absolutely ideal for Grantham city centre.Lady, who presumably was running the place had broken her ankle but was still pleased to help us and provide us with breakfast although we hadn't actually booked it.A small stroll down the road led us to a riverside walk which we enjoyed.Would recommend it and would visit The Avenue Hotel again.

I would highly recommend the Avenue Hotel Grantham to anybody looking for business or pleasure. I have been staying here through the week for business for the past 20 months and because of the owners Martin and Trace, not to mention all the great friendly staff, Steph behind the bar, who have made it an home from home for me and I basically class myself as a local.
